The two important tape pieces here from the mid-'60s, "Come Out" and "It's Gonna Rain," have their sound sources originating in police brutality and apocalyptic evangelism. Reich takes his sources and turns them into two short tape loops repeated rapidly as they gradually go out of synch with each other — what's revealed are the intricacies of the human voice. "Come Out" takes the voice fragment and turns it into a hall-of-mirror set of voices over shuffling beat and wah-wah that are actually a by-product of subtleties of the voice and almost unrecognizable as the original vocal sample. It becomes a scary psychedelic funk piece that Funkadelic or Can would have been proud of. "It's Gonna Rain" is similarly looped and phased as the preacher's admonition is transformed, moving in and out of synch as the piece progresses with the second part of the piece especially full of fierce, terrifying swirls of noise. After taking musique concrete to another level, Reich decided to try to make similar strides with instrumental music. The two other pieces here, "Piano Phase" and "Clapping Music," represent this new direction in his work. Re-recorded here in 1986 and 1987, their intricate, layered patterns should be familiar to fans of another one of Reich's masterpieces, "Music for 18 Musicians." Cultuurboerderij Pasmans, Westelbeers, om 11.00, om 13.00 en om 15.00 uur: toneelvereniging Keskenoate speelt een nieuwe voorstelling voor kinderen vanaf 4 jaar. Verder zijn linosnedes en beelden van Lianne de Lepper te zien, en wordt in de tuin de installatie "Zacht beeldverhaal" van Marlies van Zeben, Joachim Rooijackers en Mien Paridaans gepresenteerd. Ikzelf heb t helaas moeten laten zijn voor wat het was.
1e lentedag activiteit Cultuurboerderij Westelbeers: Poeziefestival Westelbeers. Poetry Slam met de dichters: -Tom van Popering, -Martin Beversluis, -Acg Vianen, -Peer Smits, -Maarten Gulden, -Ad van Schijndel, -Ronny Dijksterhuis, -Willem Adelaar. Zaterdag 24 januari draaide ik als DJ joostvb bij TACLIVE Eindhoven, met verder The Calorifer Is Very Hot! uit Italië. Het gebeuren was gratis toegankelijk en vond plaats in TAC, Vonderweg 1, bij het PSV-stadion in Eindhoven.

DJ joostvb draaide een korte set bij Burgers.
Vrijdag 31 oktober van een uur of 18:00 tot een uur of 04:00 draaide ik als DJ joostvb in Burgers, Eindhoven.
De soundcheck, die ik daar op maandag 13 oktober deed, smaakte naar meer.
Ik draaide onder andere: Cumbia, Country, snoeiharde techno, prehistorische jazz, old school engelse grindcore, Rembetica, Krautrock, felle 60-ies bebop, zwoele vocale Jazz van o.a. Chet Baker, Bach, Mugam uit Azerbaidjan, oer-Raï van Cheikha Remitti en Italodisco op z'n Grieks. De keiharde compomisloze noise was er deze keer een beetje bij ingeschoten.
Het Poeziefestival Westelbeers was geweldig! Deelnemende artiesten: Ko de Laat (ook op tilburgz.nl), Rien de Graaf, Peer Smit, Daniëlle le Mer / Danielle Lemaire, Yvette Michelbrink, Ed van der Hamsvoord , Tijs Rooijakkers, Jannes de Kort, Keskenoate, Open Dicht Bus van Sjef Wiersma. Ik vertelde er dit over:

Net als bij OCC liepen ook hier de kippen los rond, waren alle financiële bijdragen op vrijwillige basis en net als bij Debian was het onderscheid tussen publiek en uitvoerenden onduidelijk. En zo hoort het!
Op zondag 21 december 2008 zal het weer plaatsvinden.
Op zaterdag 14 juni 21:00 tot 2:00 was ik de DJ op een TACLIVE avond. Er waren verder optredens van Toby Goodshank en van Dizzy Spells Martian.

Op vrijdag 29 februari van 21:00 tot 2:00 was ik de DJ op een TACLIVE avond. Er waren verder optredens van de fenomenale Greg Haines (UK) en Wouter van Veldhoven. Het gebeuren vond plaats in TAC, bij het PSV-stadion in Eindhoven.
Cumbia, Country, snoeiharde techno, prehistorische jazz, Rembetica, Krautrock en The Boards of Canada waren te horen tijdens mijn set. Het was een zeer geslaagde avond. Ik vertelde er dit over:
randy newman fans waren er, en ornette coleman fans, en t barste natuurlijk van de boards of canada- en biosphere-fans. jaren 30 jazz sloeg iets minder aan. keiharde compomisloze noise lag ook wat moeilijk, geloof ik, en bach ging dan weer wel. o, en zowaar een woody mcbride fan. en les rita mitsouko fans. dat was t, geloof ik :)
